The search for a butterfly

Rain forest search for life.

Fear and excitement
Shadows the rain forest
As a forest trembles
An open window
Appears before me
From my porch,
I reach for towards, the light
I lay under the stars
Shinning the torch
From the porch
I lay in wait
For butterflies, moths
Among those I sought
Among the rain forest
I searched for the reject
Butterflies and moths
Like me I search the rain forest
Lush, for the unwanted
Search God's grounds
For the gift of life
I journey among this gift
My life now in God's hands
I protect this ground, holding it's hand
My window to the forest of life
A future unknown, dimmed by a light
Created by a moth, butterfly
And God's wisdom

long ago i was in California walking up the street along the coast and thought i was hallucinating because up ahead a whole block long row of bushes were undulating ..moving in slow mo. .. as i got closer i could see the bushes were packed full of Monarch Butterflies .. resting and gathering on their migration south ..i will never forget that experience and the awe and wonder it brought to me ..i like most of all that you have not forgotten our Creator in the lines of your poem .. i suggest you change one of the pair of "torch and porch" lines .. find another way to say it .. :) we came upon a Luna Moth at our doorsteps a few weeks ago ..they are about 4 inches across and a color green that is like moon light .. i sure appreciate your poem highlighting the butterfly and moth .. varieties galore

For me it is fireflies and the occasional monarch butterfly. Valentine

Fireflies here are mainly in the south of South Australia in the caves, and in the forests but in the hills where I live the Monarch butterflys are majestic. Thank you for your kind review
