Ballad of the Damned

Ballad of the Damned

A Poem by Henry Martinez

We, who repeat the past

We, who spit at neighbors,

We, who curse our friends,

We, are devils

We, who cursed the earth

We, who kill the birth

Are we of any worth

Are we really good

We all dance on a beat

the heartbeat of evils:

money, greed, corruption,

lust, revenge, consumption...

And we dance, a hall so black

stinking of humans with no tact

the orchestra strikes music ungrand,

as we dance the ballad of the damned.
