Picture a cage

A pretty bird sits on top

Thinking it's free, it spreads its wings

Pretty bird leaps, fluttering her wings

Bounces to the ground

Wings clipped

Picture a box

In it is a sad kitten

Only wanting a home

Hopes jump when a boy stops to look

Crushed when he walks away

Forgotten

Picture a tear

It slowly runs down a face

Feelings of pain, of love

Maybe joy

A tear that glistens

Let it roll
