Let Me Hold You

Let Me Hold You

A Poem by No Middle Ground

On a cold and stormy night
when a boy and I have a fight
I just need a hand to touch
one that loves me very much

That's when I run to your side
all my secrets, I confide
then you turn to me with a smile
and say stay with me for awhile

And let me hold you
Let me keep you
Let me bring you in from the rain
Let me shelter you from the pain
Let me squeeze you
Let me tease you
When the world has turned me around
with you I'll always be found
'cause you let me hold you

When your dreams get burned at the stake
by some man who wasn't your fate
and you feel so very alone
then you call me up on the phone

That's when I run to your door
find you crying there on the floor
so I lie right down by your side
and say darling, just for tonight

Let me hold you
Let me keep you
Let me wash him out of your hair
while you weep him out of your stare
Let me soothe you
Let me heal you
When your heart is dead on the ground
look up, and there I'll be found
saying let me -

Let me tell you something I've learned
a true friend is someone you earn
Through fights and heartache and lies
They will always stand by your side
So you must repay them in kind
When a storm cloud shadows their mind
Hold your arms out to them and say
Let me chase the darkness away
