Thank you for LeavingA Poem by No Middle Ground
You were the first one
who sent me flying high You were the first one who made me wanna die You were the first one to break my heart intwo and you are the first one I'm so grateful to Thank you for leaving For teaching me those lessons Some painful knowledge I had to learn Now that I'm over your pretty lyin' mouth I can leave it in the South and focus on myself for a turn One day, someone will come along my heart will sing a different song and they will tear your memory in two so I can leave you, too You came for dinner but never for my heart And you barely came before you swiftly did depart and lets not forget your ghosting most of all right after you had pinned me to the wall Thank you for leaving for scattering like mice some bitter pills that I had to down Now that it's over your little games and lies I can flee from all the spies that congregate in small Southern towns One day someone will meet my eyes My heart will jump right up my spine and they will somehow want to stay with me then finally I can leave you three All of these men they come and they go searching for love that they never show Its such a shame that they know my name when they are so unworthy So now I'm leaving and I have no tears to cry Now that I'm over the skies of St. Paul I'm finally sober And maybe in Denver I'll find a man who's tender someone who will love me and stay forevermore
