Tomorrow

Tomorrow

A Poem by So Ensnared Truth
"

A near miss with happiness...

"

Tomorrow

The pretty girl and I pass one another every evening

Sometimes in the mornings too

If I’m on time

I wonder about her

Where she’s going to

Where she’s coming from

What her name is

I even wonder how she is

She always seems content

We’ve been passing one another for a while now

I’m going to make eye contact with her today

And smile

She approaches me and I her

We’ll be passing on the usual stretch of road

I’m going to make eye contact with her today

And smile

She’s wearing her navy blue coat today

With her hair down rather than up

Perfect

But what if she blanks me?

What if she reciprocates?

Oh, God

I haven’t thought this through

Panic sets in

I stare straight ahead as we pass

As usual

Then breathe a sigh of relief

I wasn’t ready to make eye contact today

Let alone smile

Maybe tomorrow

Yes, tomorrow

Or not

Tomorrow I will take the bus

hahahah, I love this poem. reminds me of a childhood crush i had: it was a bundle of awkwardness.
very true, postponing conversations (tell me about it). I can relate to this poem, I like it. very simple and straight forward, but it delivers the message. keep them coming
