For Me

For Me

A Poem by br.reed

Sometimes I feel like no matter what I do

I still don’t live up to what you expect me to

Although what you want for me isn’t the same

Kind of life I’ve worked for, I’m going insane

You’re worried that I might not go that far

In fame, money, and power, become a local star

That people won’t recognize me wherever I may go

And stop and congratulate me on my name but you know

But if you don’t know me my now, I think it’s a shame

That you can’t simple see I don’t want a life of fame

That I want to be happy in everything I want to do

And not be compliant and miserable living for you

I don’t care about money, it only goes so far

Sure it helps raise a family and buy a nice car

But there’s much more in life than what you make

To live a life defined by a dollar sign is costly mistake

So let me live my life and make my own mistakes

And conquer the world, but I’ll do it in my own way

And live a life that’s meaningful and true

A life that’s mine where I’ll flourish in all I do.
