Liv's Poem

I cannot sleep for dreaming,

though I cannot dream for hearing

you whispering in my ear.

Nothing I have not heard before

but strange to me

because it's you

it's your lips, your tongue

your vocal chords and

you're beautiful.

 

I cannot feel for missing you,

when I open my eyes

and you are not there.

Just a blank canvas ceiling

above me

and the trapping walls

around me

hugging you closer

by pulling up the covers

and imagining it's you.

 

I cannot dance alone

and when that song plays

I remember.

I'll dance with you,

hand in hand,

and fall into your eyes.

I cannot breathe

for loving you.
