You Sacred Sinners

You Sacred Sinners

A Poem by Beth Middleton
"

This is an old piece written for GCSE english. I was quite enamored with Havisham at the time and so this character is quite similar in that she is stuck in time

"
I'd rather be lost in my insanity
Than trapped in your fantasy
Of happily ever afters
and lies
You lie! You all lie. You sacred sinners!
You selfish saints.
I see you
Mocking me with your eyes
The starlight is no more than a reminder
That I am still living.
Here is my place of peace.
Oh what tormenting peace
The bitter cold may bite me
Let all the world fight me
God may spit on me and jeer
and laugh at my name

her eyes dance with wicked flame
Maddening, wrathful, rabid, alive.

You cannot take me!
Do not beckon me to heaven
Where angels dwell
For I shall only kick you and bite you
And scratch
And as Satan fell so shall I
And burn in the flames of hell for it
And I shall be glad.
The tongues of fire shall be a comfort to me
As perhaps I have shown you
The pain one so small can feel
I am nothing in the world
And the world nothing to me
You took my world
With your taunting words within the wind
No mercy at her gasps for air
Her frantic kicks

You did not relent.
No chance. No hope.

Thought provoking piece.
I am amazed by its flow.
