a poem of regret...despair

I have loved you

with a selfish love,

Disregard my 

pleadings for they

self-serve with

a greedy lust.

My wants

are vile,

impure

longings

with 

dark imaginings.

Oh, that I could

cover you

with my pure desire;

Oh, that I could

bathe you 

in the rapture

of my want,

That I could see

my need reflect

in your eyes,

Those eyes

of gentleness,

lips,

full of

quiet promise. . . . . . .
