losing petals

losing petals

A Poem by Elizabeth

that beating bleeding mess
thumps
and skips
a beat

maddening cadence
interminable tick

tick
tick

like a watch
losing time

or a flower
losing petals

but I do not wear a watch
and I refuse to lose my petals

Love is like losing time as we dream of promised futures filled with being complete as one. I like how you compare our hearts to a watch and to petals then state how they are not needed. Nice write enjoyed.
