The Chalice

The Chalice

A Poem by talron
"

Second ever poem about alcoholism and its many great joys. I know this isn't great, but it is very personal and something I want to share.

"
Press the chalice to your lips
Indulge in exotic aromatics
Ecstasy dances with regret
Familiar company, not a soul around
An unbreakable cycle, whole again

Consume that which you are bound
Memories blur, no longer alone
Cries echo from inside
Repress, the fabric always rips
Press the chalice to your lips

Broken thoughts, agony overwhelms
Darkness descends, voices bellow
Must quench their unending desire
Complete the ritualistic eclipse
Press the chalice to your lips

Silence, once more alone
Empty void carved with primitive tools
Soothing discomfort, sedative pain
Fill the chalice, fill the chalice...
