Reservations

Reservations

A Poem by atruephoenix

As I sit here going over in my head the words I will say to you;

My soul cries out with joy from a heart found that was just as true;

I’ve played out this scene a million times over in my mind;

All the while unknown to me, you were the one that I would find;

I realize you don’t know me because we’ve never met eye to eye;

Still I can recall the outline of your face, the scent of your hair, and the brilliance of your smile;

Life has a funny way of passing you by when you take the little things for granted;

That’s why at this stage in my life I’m no longer afraid of taking chances;

So tonight as we dine and discuss the things that define us, I’ll have to make one special observation;

You’re the air that I breathe and the warmth that I need and I’ve spent a lifetime waiting to make these reservations.
