Tarnished Gold

Tarnished Gold

A Poem by Moth Phoenix

Every word you said to me was a lie.

Every lie was a cut,

a cut that tore my heart in pieces.

She came second, and him third,

you paid no attention to who came first.

Most people would take the gold,

and simply smile at silver and bronze.

You're not sorry, and you never will be.

Forever you will blame me for what happened.

In reality you caused it all.

Endless nights I spent under your spell,

I wasted half a semester on you.

You took my innocence,

Stomped, stabbed, and shot at it.

If only I hadn't met you.

No, no I am glad.

Everything that happened taught me a lesson,

a lesson to stay away from you.

You broke me into pieces,

tarnished the valuable gold I once was.

Now someone else likes gold,

someone who treasures it.

I don't want to hear you ever say you're sorry,

because truthfully, I know your not…

dick.

Intense, I am sorry you had to experience that. Your titles of your poems are truly exceptional, though one never knows what one will get, exactly!
