An Understanding

I'll be here when you come back
I will be kind
I will smile.
For I know what it is like to return to a wall of frowns
With air full of disapproval.

I will not judge
And I will not hate.
I will listen intently
With a grin upon my face.

For I know what it's like to leave
To explore
To be misunderstood and confused.
I know that ideals are relative.
As are thoughts, actions, and words.

I will cast aside my conclusions and doubts and I will trust you in your decisions,
Just as I never was with mine.
