i remember you

i remember you

A Poem by ashley

to love is to spend your whole life remembering, despite their absence.

despite your absence i dream of you.

i dont tell anyone the dreams i have of you,

where you are so tender, and its such an impossible scene.

it brings embarrassment at the thought of no reciprocity.

i dream of you in detail,

from your hairs, to each freckle on your face,

because i remember,

despite your absence.

i feel we drifted way too early.

i dont know how we slipped away,

but i vow to burn you into my brain.

dont come home to me when i have moved on and you are heart broken.

you know i would drop everything for you.

there is an ache in my stomach when youre not the one who is coming through the front door.

It is a singular hell being 18 and having your own, "Missing Friends." toasts. You eventually give the toast yearly cause there just aren't enough days.
