inevitably yours

inevitably yours

A Poem by ashley

even though my judgement stands tall and proud,

i subdue it at every sight of your eyes,

at every touch of your skin.

i wait for you like an empty house,

standing alone in the wreckage you left behind.

i wait for you.

like a dog with a bone at your door.

i hesitated and trembled before you once,

and still,

i reached out to you like a sinner yearning for redemption.

no matter how hard i tried after you left,

i could not forget you.

not because my vengeance yearned for it,

but because my memory, my eyes and body,

would not allow it.

who am i to you?

who am i trying to be to you?

with you, for you, i can change.

i hate to admit it,

but i am yours to break.

so, break me.

release me from this purgatory you have abandoned me in.
