Depression

Depression

A Poem by StolenSaphireWitch

Depression is something is more common than you think
It's all around us, everywhere, almost like it's a popular drink
Some make a show of it, showing their hurt to others
And they don't care or realize that it does nothing but bothers
There are some that are worse than most, and don't realize they push people away
When in truth, they want the opposite, they need people to stay
Because alone, they're scared, they're vulnerable and they worry
Yet, when you show concern, they frighten, lie, and away they hurry
You don't realize that they worry about what you'll think, so they cover up the scars
For depression is both a fragile and hard thing, though most often like prison bars
Those with depression fear you'll think their crazy, or that it's stupid to hurt like this
Causing them to hurt worse, and drown in it, like a deep, dark abyss
Because what most of you don't know, is that depression is caused by abuse
And they must find an outlet, whether by scarring themselves, or sounding like dr. Seuss
Enough of those with depression have learned to b quiet, for fear of being mocked as a liar and fake
Since, for them, though you certainly won't know, it is like tying them up, throwing them in, and adding more gallons to the lake
Look, when you ask someone how they are, at their eyes, for a person with depression won't look at yours
Meaning that they feel invisible, like another statue to skip as you go on museum tours
