A Painting

a poem I wrote to explain my feelings

I want to paint you a picture of my thoughts.

First,

grab the coldest blue you can find,

a color that makes you shiver.

Paint the sky with this color.

Second,

grab the purest black available,

a color that makes you feel alone.

Paint a mountain large enough to

take up most of the canvas.

Third,

grab the darkest green you have,

a color that makes you feel surrounded.

Paint a forest that takes up

the rest of the canvas.

Now,

admire your work.

Feel the colors as they work

together to make you feel.

Close your eyes,

imagine you’re there.

Feel the cold, loneliness and isolation.

Shiver while you stare at the

large, immovable, daunting mountain.

Hyperventilate while you’re surrounded

by tall, ominous, trees.

Then maybe,

you’ll feel part of

what I feel.
