Salted Wound

Salted Wound

A Poem by Barrett

I just want to see it
The curl of your straw hair
Grazing your collar at the nape of your neck

Neck I've loved
One night of love
I just want to see it

I just have to see you.

We won't talk of politics
Or family or death
And you won't take me home

Home where we loved
Lips taking and giving
Hands clasped above my head

I just have to see you.

I awoke with a cut
A wound that grew in your absence
Blood red and burning where your hands touched my skin

Skin made new
Under foreign fingertips
Body bursting and breaking

I just have to see you, to pour salt in my wound.

The stinging proves what time sometimes leads me to doubt-

That you were here.

Salt in the wound is very painful every life places a memory within our mind sometimes for but a moment and sometimes a life time

damn this is good...especially the "skin made new" stanza...my favorite.

that scent of passion lingers even though sometimes we start doubting what caused it to be there in the first place.

OH MY....the deep down dirty honest emotions in this one are overwhelming! The imagery makes me feel like a voyeur! You are very talented. Lydi**
