A Feather's Sorrow

A Feather's Sorrow

A Poem by Brian M. Peeples

My darkness. My sorrow.

My journey unto tomorrow

Its pain wrapped in tether

Like the sorrow of a feather

Forever entrapped within

The broken walls of sin

Never to escape fate’s hand

As it floats amongst man

Circling the chosen path

Wrapped around the aftermath

Taken by the claws of humanity

And broken by the jaws of insanity

Forgetting what it’s like to live free

Chained like an animal, for all to see

But no more. Never again.

Its pain shall soon find its final end

Beneath the ashes, a brand new day

Buried under the surface, one last way

To change it all, to discover tomorrow

One last chance to end a feather’s sorrow
