Just a Face

Just a Face

A Poem by British Brittany
"

Older one. Never shared till now. Enjoy or not, whatever you will.

"
I found this old poem written in June/July time-frame and my style of writing and rhythm has changed a lot since then, even more so recently, but I thought you might want to read it. (:

Just a Face

That smile let the world know that it would be okay
Hope lingered because the joy and love exuded
But did it take effort?
we didn't know the burden carried on his shoulders
Pain was written in his eyes
Who else lived in that pain?
Were the others naive
Innocent to see this pain
Feel it
Or just filled with the expectations for a painless life?
Any contamination would be cast out
The loved, the joyful, even with God
Is their smile a lie
A sinful smile?
No, it was a barrier of walls
Forced to be put up by the army of recruited men by the standards of living
Pity is not help
Neither is sympathy
All the adolescents want is empathy
