Equilibrium

Equilibrium

A Poem by Brittany Diane

I am the Wind
Like the wind, I am strong
Like the wind, I am wild
Like the wind, I cannot be contained
I am the Rain.
Like the rain, I am fierce
Like the rain, I am my own
Like the rain, I am unbreakable
I am the Sun.
Like the sun, I am bright.
Like the sun, I am entirely my own.
Like the sun, i am the one with the sky
I am the Trees.
Like the trees, I am wise
Like the trees, I am grounded
Like the trees, my steady heart never fails
I Am Equilibrium

I have a natural attraction to writing that involves geological and astronomical entities, so this poem was really fun for me to read. I also enjoyed the parallel structure that the stanzas had. My favourite stanza, though, is the first, describing the connection between you and the wind as both being "strong" and "wild" gave me both excellent imagery of a powerful and great insight into your personal character. They're mighty similes. And I like how you ended with "I am Equilibrium," because brings us back to the circular nature of, well, nature, and how it is designed to sustain itself. Again, this too shows us how you naturally bring order to your life.
As for suggestions, I just have two. First, capitalize "i" in the last line of the third stanza. And second, in the second stanza you say "Like the rain, I am my own," and in the third stanza you say "Like the sun, I am entirely my own." I suggest changing one of those similes no something different.

Neurotically yours,
Mister Splitrain
