I'm walking amongst the smell of restaurant chains and pollution,

Keeping you close and distant,

I've replaced stained sheets with waves of ethanol,

Looking back over my shoulder

I won't admit the summers have grown bitter,

But I've been diagnosed with the seasonal blues,

Our prints are permanent across this timeline,

Of broken promises made by us star-crossed veneers

Oh starshine, my insides are Shakespearean,

Potent and old-fashioned, always wearing down,

S**t happens and s**t fades away,

Just one more verse of ecstasy and I'll pretend I don't know your name

I've been passing through the stop signs,

With kisses from butterflies and the rims of bottles,

Is it enough to make you jealous,

With my confidence replenished?

Dish out the punishment, I've been acting up again,

The top pupil in lessons not learned, 

Opened armed and lowered my resiliency,

Into the jaws of human heart sacrifice

Oh starshine, my insides are Shakespearean,

Pissed and pathetic, checking in and out,

S**t happens and s**t fades quick,

An obdurate pest without an expiration

I'm going for a run, you can find me off the map,

And I'll be damned if I ever come back
