The Chance is Gone

The Chance is Gone

A Poem by Bryce Simonds
"

11th poem

"

A chance with you

Is out of my grasp
Friends till the end
Is all we will ever be
He who kisses you, will never be me

I want it, yet I don’t
Our friendship is too great
Everyone says do it
But what I say is no
The chances of yes are too low

This poem was for you
But maybe now for someone else
All my courage is lost
But do not worry, my heart will mend
And we will still stay friends till the end

"A chance with you
Is out of my grasp" - very good beginning; brings the reader right into the situation, it's addressing an absent figure directly, and you've found a good way to express that sentiment.

I applaud your unconventional rhyme scheme, but it made me pause in a few odd places, so i suggest using a bit of punctuation, to guide the reader through.
e.g:
"A chance with you
Is out of my grasp.
Friends till the end
Is all we will ever be;
He who kisses you, will never be me."

"I want it, yet I dont.
Our friendship is too great.
Everyone says do it,
But what I say is no;
The chances of yes are too low."

"This poem was for you
But maybe now for someone else;
All my courage is lost.
But do not worry, my heart will mend
And we will still stay friends till the end." - to increase syllables for a smoother flow, i advise changing that "till" to "until" OR "right til".

The simplicity of the concept and language within this piece works well, and is touching.
Nice write.
Thanks for posting it.
