Beneath Dark Waters

Beneath Dark Waters

A Poem by Jen

Beneath Dark Waters
where darkness of the soul
continuously grows
were cold and icy hands
drag everything down
till they are no more

Beneath Dark Waters
a dark demons wait
for the next tasty soul
to travel his way
using false hope
saying horrible lies
that peace will come
from beneath

Beneath Dark Waters
where souls drown
they sink to the bottom
never to be found
for the darkness
so thick
devourers each victim

Beneath Dark Waters
many fall in
and sink their death
fighting to float
back up to th e light
but once the darkness
so thick
eats them whole
there is little hope
to see light anymore

Beneath Dark Waters
from hard waves pushing you down
to the still waters in dark
where meaning is lost
and time drifts away
no longer breathing
no longer seeing
no longer being
Beneath these cold dark waters

Your poetry is fabulous, thrilling, intense.

Please consider, when contemplating the dark ,
unlit places are not always cold and unfriendly.

Have you read stories of those who sit in front of
an open fire, the darkness comforting them like a
blanket of down.

The open water, after dark, is often warm and peaceful.
The creatures of the deep have gone to sleep.

There are two sides to every question. Your view is very
true and well considered, just remember there is always
another side. So, when down, remember, people are singing
and dancing somewhere, there are games in play and people
wait for you to join in, you are invited.

Losing yourself to the darkness or as you so aptly put "cold dark waters". I associate darkness with a kind of fabric, a moving shadow, but in ways it seems more like these waters. It drowns out the real you and makes you cold, unfeeling to those who you love, those around you. Leaving, only a husk of that man/woman you once were.

So well written! It captured my emotions and reminded me of all the dark times I had. i escaped the cold dark waters then...but who knows when I might become enveloped again? Perhaps this time never to return?
