Lend an Ear

Lend an Ear

A Poem by Jen

Lend an ear
for me
for all
listen to the words
that were brewing in our hearts
these painful words
sharper then daggers
the cold tears
that stream from our eyes

Listen to me
For what I say
is horribly true
for you never listen
for the words that ring
in the air like a bell
you bat it away and sigh
as if only a pesky bug
but is not true
listen and believe
for what we say to you

I said it before
now I'll say it again
please listen
to the words we say
We are smaller
and younger
and seemly ignorant
but do not think so
for it is false
we no much
possible more
then you can ever imagine

Do not block your ears
for you're only blocking your mind
listen to our pleas
they are more then just whines
we want more
to learn
to grow
to play
much like you
in this world today

Help us open our minds
by opening our ears
by you doing the same
no more false promises
no more simple answers
listen to what we say
for what better way
to learn
then to learn
from you

Author's Note

Jen
No ever listens to the little guy. You listen to the guy ahead of you, but never the one before you. I notice that listening can solve some of the problems. I read to preschoolers, and sometimes they tell me what they like and don't like.At first, I just simply agreed with them with out truly listening, but I relied I learned more about them when I did listen. We could learn a lot if we all just listen to one another.
