City in the sky

City in the sky

A Poem by A. Salazar
"

I'm really trying to find my writing style. I love science fiction, but I have problems with losing interest in stories while I'm writing them. So I tried a poem to see if it would help.

"

I closed my eyes and I saw a city in the sky.

An urban ring, where gravity must not be a thing

The pods they moved. Floating in twilight.

Illuminated greens and blues.

Back and forth. Day becoming night.

The buildings they collapsed, then reemerged.

The shapes they shifted. No sounds are heard.

I looked down to see my Earth.

Broken cities and miles of dirt.

I closed my eyes and saw a place.

Where no person could live from my age.

Nobody would recognize this city in space.

Time ignored, and in it's place,

a savage reminder of what used to be the human race.

Consumed with nothing, and nothing consumed.

A lost generation that must be groomed.

To take this world to desired heights.

The city in the clouds, floated out of sight.

This is really good! I love how you keep a constant rhythm and rhyming scheme.
