Don't be cheese bored

Don't be cheese bored

A Poem by Dean Crossland
"

My third attempt at a poem. Just a piece of nonsense really. I apologise for the Sir Walter Scott parody that I open with!

"

Don’t be cheese bored

“For hunger in our hours of ease,

                Come certain great big slabs of cheese;

Limestone Wensleydale

                Perspiring Stilton

Everyman Cheddar

                Obscure tintern;

Give me cheese

                Or give me death

But please, please not "

                Stinking Bishop breath;

Appledore, Caerphilly, Oxford Blue

                Sounding like stations

Red Windsor

                Waterloo;

Some mottled like Eczema

                Others chalk white

Some have diseased veins

                Or glow neon-bright;

Open mouths and nostrils

                Let your senses take wings

But one thing I caution "

                Don’t buy it in strings.”
