Willow Tree

Willow Tree

A Poem by Lily M. Noithe
"

2007. So corny.

"

Willow Tree,

why are you weeping?

you shouldn't have

sadness in your keeping!

Look, look,

at that trickling brook,

rimmed with vibrant flowers!

There's no need to be sour!

Willow Tree,

why do you weep?

The warm breeze whispers

as it flows through your leaves,

in a world where Earth and happiness,

never freeze!

Willow Tree,

why do you weep?

Listen to the water on the shore,

as it laps up your secrets,

to forever store!

But Willow Tree,

why do you weep?

Oh, I see!

All the birds have gone away,

and in the wind,

your empty branches sway!

Willow tree,

don't weep!

Willow Tree,

sometimes you just need a friend,

and I have many things I can lend!

I shall bring you my friend Canary,

and he shall make your branches once again merry!

I will leave my white steed,

and in the near pastures,

he will feed.

I give you these deeds.

Willow Tree,

most of all,

I will plant a weeping willow,

so he shall not weep,

but instead stand at your side!

You have plenty of friends here,

and my work is done, I fear.

Willow Tree, tell me,

Why do I weep?
