Sweet Baby Boy

Sweet Baby Boy

A Poem by A.Lee

for my son

I walked into the room one day

To catch you coyly grinning my way

My phone you held in your little hand

Into puppy’s water dish I watched it land

Then to the potty I sent you to sit

Turning my back for just a bit

I spin around, poke my head through the door

Now nothing but tissues cover the floor

I took you outside, such a nice warm spring day

I was sure you’d be good if I left you to play

It was time to come in after almost an hour

And you smile at me… With a mouthful of flowers

The sun starts to set and I put you to bed

Fluffing the pillow to lay ‘neath your head

I sigh as I think of the day that we had

Busy and frustrating, though not horribly bad

You look up at me as I turn out the light

“I love you, mommy.  See you later.  Good night.”

Even as I walk out I trip over your toy

But it’s perfectly fine, you’re my sweet baby boy

-For my beautiful little boy-

Very sweet and loving, plus the rhyming and meter is good, too. You're a good mother--that's obvious. Maybe you already know this, but as a rule, boys tend to be messier than girls.

So, I wanted to look at your work, after your kind review of mine, and picked this one first.
So very beautiful, well thought and well written.
My sweet baby boy is 13 years old now, I'm looking at his photo as I write this. You have evoked many fond memories - hang on, don't blink, and thank you so much for writing this piece.

I am lots of things, but here you'd identify most with the writer and avid reader. I have three beautiful children. The oldest boy, Seth, passed last year after fighting a long battle with cancer. .. more..
