The Ladder

The Ladder

A Poem by A.Lee

I’m climbing a never ending ladder

But the higher I go, the harder I fall

It doesn’t matter if I can see the end

Because whenever I’m almost there

You gently push me back

Then wave and smile and tell me

How lovely it is to be you

To have everything you want

And everything you need

And how you’re so so sorry

It must suck to be me

You never hold your hand out

You never throw a rope

Just watch and pretend to be sympathetic

I’m just some freaking joke

You complain because I climb too slow

Watch as the splinters cut my hands

When I go faster you shrug and fold your arms

Because you need to see more effort

Before you’ll lend a helping hand

When I stop to take a breath

You say I must keep moving

When I fall you just look down at me

And shake your head my way

Then you go back to loving you

Because I just don’t matter
I’m just not good enough

It doesn’t matter how hard I try

I’m trying to climb life’s ladder

But no matter what I do

I’ll never reach the top

Without a little help from you

Okay... comments & criticism welcome, but don't ask me to change anything in this one (unless its a typo). I wrote it all in one angry spew and this is just how it came out. But I feel a little better now that I'm done :D

I have always believe that when a person writes in a true emotional way - be it angry, sad, or happy, the writing always turns out truthful and beatiful even though there would show some grammatical error. But I doubt it will contain some error because it's from your heart.

I sensed pure emotions through your writing. Very well written.

I like this. I can tell that this poem was written within the raw flesh of emotion. Kudos.

I liked this a lot. The ladder was a fantastic choice of metaphor for describing such a situation, and having felt this way before, I thought that you did a great job in capturing the overwhelming anger and pain felt. For something that was so clearly an outburst of emotions, this was an amazing write. :)

I find that writing what I feel helps get a lot of the "mood" out, whether the mood it "good or bad." Nice write that definitely got your point across. Good description.

Obviously angry spews are a good for poetry and this is no exception. You used your feeling as great leverage and your emotion in the poem seemed raw and tender to the touch. I wouldn't change a thing, don't want you to be angry...but girl it seems to work. Nice job.

This is a good write. When I read this, the beginning seemed kinda mello the the anger began to slowly settle in, hit a climax and end with a taste of disappointment. Good job. Vent away!!!
