Sugar-Sweet

Sugar-Sweet

A Poem by Not Afraid of Bruises

First cup of the day and the sugar-lined bottom

Is tasteless,

No grains to suck with my broken straw,

No heart to sense them.

I am slowly drowning here, where you left me slowly

Eating at my accomplishments because,

In your opinion,

I was too good for you,

Too sweet.

And now all I taste is regret in everything I make,

Every step I take because, sadly,

I move along without you.
