![]() The ShoreA Poem by Caleb James![]() In style of Edgar Allan Poe, this poem is of classical horror influence.![]()
We met down by the shore,
Minds intertwined as one, The kiss from her lips I adore, All seemed as harmless fun. We met down by the shore, Not enough could our love be fed, From our hearts love would pour, For we were promptly wed. We met down by the shore, As time gone by, Fading love left me wanting more, Surely not knowing why. We met down by the shore, Passions embers now cool, Once would do anything for, Now being played as a fool. We met down by the shore, All dressed but missing one thing, Jealous thoughts sunk down to my core, She was no longer wearing her wedding ring. We met down by the shore, Lust has given way with age, Was only mine but now a w***e, Love has turned to only rage. We met down by the shore, Now to treat me in such a way, I call to her like once before, Together this last day. We met down by the shore, I knew she could no longer care, Surely another her intentions were for, Since my ring she would no longer wear. Taken where we met down by the shore, I see the glint in her eyes fade, My heart she will break no more, On the ground her head I softly lay.. As I buried her down by the shore, Around her neck I realized the error at hand, For as I gaze at the woman I used to so adore, Upon a chain placed was our wedding band. © 2015 Caleb JamesReviews
