The wake in the dream.

The wake in the dream.

A Poem by Marina

Well I woke up at five pm, I slept the day away.
My body knows I needed it, I couldn't stay awake.
The dream I had was floating on the surface of my wake,
Then I remembered everything, but everything was fake.

I dreamt I woke up in the house I lived in 'till I was four,
You were there, you were a friend, someone that I adored.
I wrapped my arms around you in the comfort that you shared,
Then whispered that I loved you, my voice told I was scared.

You never gave me a reply but simply held me close,
Before I knew it we were living in a house of our own.
We shared that place with strangers, who ran an orphanage.
It was a peaceful little place that had a common touch.

As silly as it all did seem, I could not really care less.
Regardless of where I would live, with you I seemed at best.
There were no arguments because we both lived our own lives,
Simply being content with being by each other's side.

Then I woke up in my own bed and soon I wore a smile,
Even if it wasn't real, for a moment you were mine.
But I never gave it as much thought as I did after that dream,
It appears now as if these are the things I felt but didn't see.
