Otto, the Fey

Otto, the Fey

A Poem by Cameron Berry

division spilt upon earth
rusted trees wave to their friends
and mourn plywood soldiers
lost in the great rend

winter boughs leak tales of sorrow
dripping upon a sea of blind lights
the retching and tearing
of a womb split left to right

yellow flashes pass in glimmering streams
flick ashes of asphalt and sprays of oil
into Otto’s eyes, ever so fey
testing Otto's faith to prove a foil

Otto’s cellulose coat, dull and stupid
with a sudden swerve into the grove
crimson soaked martyr
finding its way back home
