Insanitys silence

Insanitys silence

A Poem by Ama May Cooper

I did not ask for this information,
I did not plead with some higher authority for this,
It crept in through re-activated synapses,
Surged through new found connections.

It blinded me like a lightning strike
It beat me up and left me naked in the cold
It ignited me like a warm open fire on a winters evening
It was an uninvited saviour

This was not a willing acceptance
It was a curse disguised as a gift
Flooded from past lives through this vessel
Re-awakening powers not yet tamed

I understand your fear
I feel the rejection of your distance
The judgement in your stare
The emptiness of understanding that is no longer there

I am alone in this discovery
Gifted with sight that I can but hope to share
Silenced by the accusations in the air
Frustrated with the information that is now bound to closed lips

This was not the response i had in mind
No wisdom was greeted with acceptance
This new found power negated as insanity
Your underlining tone of disapproval

You have your wish
I will not engage your mind with mine
I will swallow my desperate need to share
I will hold all this inside my mind

And don't doubt it will change me
you'll have what your so convinced of
From the isolation of this silence
you will birth the insanity you speak of
