Slow defeat

Slow defeat

A Poem by Ama May Cooper
"

Written for the song contest

"

Flat lined

life signs

faded and gone

lie still

sleep now

the fight no longer goes on

cudent stand the firing

the bullets spread elsewhere

a poison

a gunshot

a wound i cant deafeat

it started off as nothing

a simple little growth

expanding and growing

my lung its happy home

harmless , friendly

possibly benign

noone saw it mutate

unexpected cell destroyer

lurking undected

latching onto cells

reforming them to killers

Kimo came a little to late

the lights already fading

darkness clouding my judgement

my will gave in

the struggle to much

to many hospital visits

Flat lined

life signs

faded and gone

lie still

sleep now

the fight no longer goes on
