Thunder Chases Lightning

Thunder Chases Lightning

Written for an assignment (write a "myth" explaining the origin of something). For the record, I got a 100% on the assignment.

Thunder calls out

For someone to answer

But nobody’s listening at all

The young woman is waiting

For someone to find her

She’s standing in the rain alone

Lost without direction

Like a ship at sea

Both thunder and girl

Send silent pleas

For anyone to answer

Their quiet call

For anyone to care at all

The girl hears the thunder

And she’s the only one

She drops her basket

And looks up to the stormy sky

No one finds the girl

She waits and waits

And finally decides

To answer the thunder

The first flash of lightning

The thunder booms laughter

Finally, we’re not alone

And now the thunder

Chases the lightning

Through the sky in the storm

What do you think of line 10, specifically? When I think about it, it doesn't make sense to me (and I wrote it - that's saying something!), but maybe it'll make sense to you?
