Street Running

Street Running

A Poem by Anonymous 79
"

The speaker is my running buddy, and I am the "She" being spoken of. I'm playing around with perspectives for another project, I needed reference material.

"
This street is dangerous, they said They're right, and I don't know why She decided running by a major street Was ever a good idea Now the cacophony of passing cars And crunch of broken glass On the road beneath her feet Rings through my ears She keeps running even though She's terrified of the passing death traps She can't help being addicted To the pound of her feet on the pavement The rush of wind and adrenaline I lag behind but she streaks ahead, Forgetting that I can't run a far or fast But I hope her thrill of running lasts This street is dangerous, they said They're right, and I can't run it with her every day
