Even the gods in their jealous skies loved
the sheer brilliance and beauty of her;
all stone and marble carved most artfully
architecturally unbeatable:
honorary eighth wonder of the world.
Her people, however, were less genius;
their loose morals and erratic nature
kindled tempestuous rage in the gods
whose pride divided them-- all claiming her
until Poseidon leapt forth from his throne
and engulfed the city in sea water;
her people drowned in the turbulent waves
her walls eternally preserved in salt
lost to the world: subsea metropolis.

Sweet topic! I've always been fascinated by Utopia, but that new TV show does not do it justice. Though I like the myths here.

Your craftsmanship is very high, I feel as if I can imagine characters in a few short lines. I can see it!

I'm a huge mythology buff (particularly Greek) so a lot of what I write is, at the very least, influenced by it if not involving it. Have been actively avoiding the TV show since I learned it wasn't a documentary but a drama, haha.
