Autoi, Autai, Auta

Autoi, Autai, Auta

A Poem by cassandra violet
"

How boring would the world be if we were all the same?

"

Imagine how the sky would look if sunsets only had one color,

If only one shade colored the ending of the day,

The bay glistened with one tedious tint

Before the ocean was left to drift in darkness.

What would you think of the petals of each blossom seeming the same?

No bushes of roses, or hills of daffodils to dance in meadows,

But mirrors of a plant covering the planes

Of this bland, brown ground.

What if there was only one sound to each song?

Long, predictable lyrics echoing in your spirit

Until you didn’t wish to hear it,

Begging instead for silence to slither down these streets.

Where would we go if there was only one road?

What would you call yourself if we all had the same name?

What if the features of each face reflected the other?

What would we be if man had one soul?
