Poseidon, come from the salty depths of the sleek Aegean Sea, where the Nereid’s
graceful gait traces a dancing ring, ἐξ
ο- γὰρ ἀμφὶ τήνδε Τρωικὴν χθόνα Φοῖ™ός
τε κἀγὼ λαΐνους πύργους πέριξ
ὀρθοῖσιν "θεμεν κανόσιν, For
since I laid this lustrous Trojan ground with stone towers and built its
borders, ο"ποτ᾽
ἐκ φρενῶν
ε"νοι᾽ ἀπέστη τῶν ἐμῶν Φρυγῶν πόλει: The
fondness I feel for my Phrygian city has yet to depart from within me: ἣ
νῦν καπνοῦται καὶ πρὸς Ἀργείου δορὸς
ὄλωλε πορθηθεῖσ᾽: And
now it is under attack and withering to ash in the fatal flames of Argive furor: ὁ
