Equilibrium

Equilibrium

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

we all need balance in our lives

"
cling to your emotional hurts
as though life depends on them
at your loving heart's peril
for nothing will be gained but
misery within your own fragile
harbour walls

far better those hurts recede with
ebb and flow of season's tides
let them wash away, let them play
in a bay of happiness with dolphins
let them walk on a pebbled beach
within reach of sunset cafe
where a pumpkin latte served with
dark chocolate almonds can lift
the heaviest of doldrum spirits

or alternatively build a fire in
your mind's eye, let them burn
let the ashes of your misery
whirl with the wind of freedom
dust to dust, let them be gone
so the song of you shall be
cleansed and inner peace restored

amen

Emotional clings are something which hold us back.... So we must wash away for pure thought or burn it.... Either way out a letting go..... Nice one

My pleasure!
Many times a poet will prescribe some curative, but without the added benefit of SHOWING how that can look. People who are entrenched in negativity often can't visualize what we have trained ourselves to see. That's why it's great for you to put this prescription into view & into action, so a person can be inspired to make a plan. Being happy doesn't happen by accident. We need to take steps to nurture a healthy state of mind! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

:) .....................
easier said than done
life is a balancing
act .if we can only
tip those stubborn
scales in our favor
more often it would
be nice;.however the
beach and sea
does seem to wash
away our woes
when we're there..

nice work

Wonderfully put and inspirational, Chris, as your writing frequently is. Do and will try to take a leaf out of your eternal book of wisdom. Promise. Hope you and your darlings are keeping well. Take care, keep safe. Please.

if only it were that easy but you elegantly and upliftingly remind that it can be. this is a lighthearted way of dealing with a serious subject. you kind of caught me off balance (pun intended) with this but when you're right, you're right. nice piece of peace ... :)
