Yo-Yo

Yo-Yo

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(found in some old notes, a reflection on bereavement)

"
grief blots out sunlight
plays yo-yo with emotions
wrings out heart and soul

Hi Chris,
This is right up my street.
At first it appears just a simple verse, but for me, there is so much more inside.
Grief is indeed a debilitating emotion. Sometimes it makes you smile, sometimes it makes you cry, but mostly, it hurts like nothing on earth.

I find this to be quite accurate, Chris. I've been there as I'm you and everyone else has at some point in their lives.

Upon us all, a little rain must fall.

Its great when you can pack so much into just a few lines. Skillful and short but the message is painted so no shortcuts were taken.

Chris
I’ve been in grief several times
It feels like a black void
Like another dimension and we are onlookers to an insignificant world around us
Great write ✍️

It does, at least momentarily, blot out the sun, but with time it can come and go on that string of memories. A very good metaphor in such few words.

Title and poem are spot on. I like brevity and to the point with wisdom. These old notes show your talent, past and present.
