Looking Beyond

Looking Beyond

A Story by Justin
"

This story is about how when meeting someone how they might act towards you, you judge them but you don't know what they have been through or going through.

"
You might meet someone and they come across as hostile and unfriendly or you might meet a beautiful girl or a handsome man and they come across as arrogant and full of themselves. You judge them and think to yourself, "They are really cocky and full of themselves." We all have done that before. We are not innocent but we can learn from our mistakes and learn to get to know someone before we judge them. That beautiful girl or handsome guy might have been through a lot of things that have been negative and the only way they can make themselves feel better by being arrogant or cocky. That person who comes across hostile might be going through things and that is the only way they can express themselves is being hostile.
You have to get to someone before you judge. You have to get beyond everything rather it is looks or anything else. I think once you look past all those and see what type of person they really are. You can take a appreciate them a lot better. That beautiful girl or handsome guy might be one of the most amazing people you have ever met in your life.
That goes for everyone once you get to know them, you might develop a really strong bond with them. You can learn from them and they can learn from you. Maybe you two have been through many of the same situations and tell each other how you each got through it. You know you might marry them in the future, have kids, and so on.
I believe in the old saying not judging a book by its cover. It is really true. I know what it is like to be judged before people getting to know me. It hurts to get judged by people before they get to know me. It upsets me and I think to myself why did they judge me.
I also have judged people too. I feel horrible for judging people. I think to myself that could have been me. I am not perfect but I learn from my mistakes and moved on.

Thanks for listening. Hope you guys enjoy it.

i love the perspective you created with this piece and how you were trying to make such a wonderful point about what the world has become and what people are considering okay and normal simply because no one has let them say anything. well done. greatly penned.

Thank you for opening my eyes

your welcome, thanks :) :) i felt i needed to write it
So wise, Justin.
It's true. Many people act a certain way on the surface to hide who they really are.

thanks :) u are right :) sometimes it is hard to be yourself
I like the main concept of this....Do not judge! I am not a judgmental person. I am a bubbly and fun person to be around, I like to think so anyways. I hang around people that aren't arrogant because I can not take that. No one is born perfect. People should understand that. We all make mistakes. There is a difference and confidence and arrogance. Arrogance shouldn't be an aspect of someone's personality. There should be more confidence though. Yes, I wouldn't say I have been bullied or anything to have negativity in my life to fully understand the concept. More people should not look at the cover of our books. Amazing job, Justin. :)

i was in a situation recently where I judged a guy that came off as very cocky and full of himself and i really didnt want anything to do with him. I decided to let go of my first impression of him and actually got to know him as a person and i found out that he was a pretty decent guy and that we had more in common than i could have imagined. This was beautifully written and i can relate 100% (:

thanks, it is awesome how you can relate to it!!!
I have been pondering this exact thought recently ... I read a quote the other day ..

'Show respect to people who don't deserve it; not as a reflection of their character, but as a reflection of yours.'

Dave Willis

One has to decide to Be the Better Man and stay strong to your virtues ... not always easy but you can always fall off and get back on again.

It is nicely written and to the point, not sure if it is a story though, more like a speech, you should have a think and see if you can get the same message across in a metaphor.

Nice work x x

This was nicely written. This is raw and real. You're very open minded-we need more people like that in the world. :) Keep up the good work!

I also believe in the old saying don't judge a book by its cover. We are all human beings and none of us are perfect. I think you did an awesome job in expressing truth and feelings. What this world needs is more people like you. Thank You so much for sharing ''Looking Beyond''.
