Lake

Lake

A Poem by Julia Murphy

And I'm staring through the green
That taints the water's sheen
The silence penetrates my ears
It's like it's too loud to be real

Float down, float down,
A lake that seems too deep to see
Swim down, swim down,
And dig your feet into the mud beneath

And you are following me
Into a forest of green
I see the snakes in the trees
They wonder how I survived

Float down, float down,
A lake that seems too deep to see
Swim down, swim down,
And dig your feet into the mud beneath

The wolves will take you home
Where I am waiting
The birds will call your name
As I remember

How I stared through the green
That tainted the water's sheen
The silence penetrated my ears
Like it's too loud to be real

Hope to write a piano piece to accompany this soon. This was meant to be an alternative/indie song, I was mainly inspired by Bon Iver and their style of music, also Passion Pit.
