Canada

Canada

A Poem by Jeremy Cooney
"

A psuedo-silly cowboy song.

"

The engine burns wild as I'm driving

Down an interstate built for fools

Don't need me nothing but a Motel 8

With a microwave, and champagne for two

Cruising through Roseline, Kentucky

Bluegrass, the blues, and barbeque

Monroe's moonshine suits me just fine

Hell, I was sauced just after a few

CHORUS

And they ain't got no drive-ins in Canada

No "Lover's Lane" 'neath a big silver screen

No they ain't got no drive-ins in Canada

Take a step back or two

See what I mean

Now James, he can boast about Mexico

Oh so simple, leave your mind all apart

But me, I'm not much for tequila

And those mariachi players breaking our hearts

I'd much rather hear Apache wardrums

Or a jazz rhythm played from a bar in Chicago

But the very best, tops all the rest

Is the song of a cowboy, lonely and cold

CHORUS

BRIDGE

CHORUS

Take a step back or two,

See what I mean

Take a step back or two,

See what I mean

Place my arms around you

'Neath this old silver screen.
