I TOUCHED THE MOON

I TOUCHED THE MOON

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

A golden glow beyond my grasp..

"

I touched the moon last night;

a golden glow beyond my grasp.

Eons before me it rested there;

it will remain when I am dust.

My hand now glows from the embrace.

Voices echo through nights past,

and with the glow, caress my face.

My finger faints from what will last.

Alone I am; alone secure;

the moon will last when I am gone.

A Master set it in its place,

to move the tide, refresh the dawn.

Unnumbered eyes have felt its rest;

have looked upon reflected light.

My heart is moved away from pain;

I touched the moon last night...

Wow the imagery is awesome here. The idea of touching the moon.... I could picture the glow remaining afterwards and how it would feel to reach up into the sky and grasp the moon, just to marvel at it. Good write.

Thank you for your lifting words! :)
The physical self has limits, but nothing is beyond human imagination. It's why we will eventually reach the stars.

How dull the night would seem without the moon. Beccy.

Thank you so much for your kind and inspiring words, Beccy... May the moon always light your way...
Wonderful. It makes me realize that human beings have actually touched the moon. What was once impossible is now within our grasp...

whenever i see the moon, I see the beauty on how it shine, it is only for viewing purposes only... sometimes i think we are too comfortable in our comfort zone, too secure in it that we set foot in the melancholia of thing, reality wise.... very amusing piece, my friend....

Pax, it is always such a pleasure to have your presence here. Thank you for your kind words!
People have told me in the past that sometimes when they gaze up at the moon and it really hits them how vast and distant it is, it scares them and they have to look away. But for me I find it comforting that, as you said, the moon will last when I am gone. Wonderful writing, C.

"Alone I am; alone secure; the moon will last when I am gone... " These lines remind me 'bout the dust of time that slips off the very hands & never blows in the wrong direction, but down to the ground. Time makes us feeling like the speck of that dust - so lone, numb l that's always full of solitude, & memories. Liked the philosophy you've created in touching words. Well written.
