Breathing spring

Breathing spring

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

For those who have suffered at the hand of winter

"

Winter died screaming,

gripping its bed in madness;

cold, mocking, scornful

raging as it ripped the sheets of spring…

Now soft prayers of lilies

mourn its bitter passing

with a fragrance of anise and jasmine,

as gentle breezes dance in daylight…

She stands at winter’s grave

with indigo forget-me-nots;

a smile dancing there, breathing spring,

feeling softer slumbers lull her eyes.

Great vivid imagery of the cruel violent winter becoming a softer gentler spring. Great job.

I love the subtle humor and the metaphor- thanks for the smile this morning. She really is trying to hold on tight this year, isn't she?

Winter died screaming,
gripping its bed in madness;
cold, mocking, scornful
raging as it ripped the sheets of spring…

The above verse has such a violent voice, and then the reader is soothed with spring's voice. I enjoyed this much! Kudos...
